Annette Fagerhaug Stephansen, PhD

Annette F. Stephansen is Research Director of the group Digital Systems in NORCE – one of Norway’s largest independent and research institutes. She has a PhD in applied mathematics from the Ecole des Ponts, ParisTech, which comes with a research interest in the development of numerical methods and their error estimates. The ever expanding uses of algorithms and AI means that to examine and highlight the hypotheses and the data underpinning the methods are ever more important.

She has participated in several debates on AI and the ethical impacts of AI, and is a board member of NORA – the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium as well as NORA start-up. Her interest in cross-disciplinary research and technology has also led her to be a scientific board member of the center for e-health at the University of Agder, as well as a board member of the research centers SFI Smart Ocean and SFI CRIMAC.
