Jody Ranck, DrPH

Dr. Ranck has over 30 years of experience working in the global health arena and has his worked has spanned human rights to health technology. Author of two books on digital health, he is a globally recognized thought leader on digital health and is currently working on a book on Responsible AI in Healthcare. He is the Director of the Responsible Tech Program at Topio Networks and a Senior Analyst covering AI, ethics, and analytics for Chilmark Research. In the past he has been appointed as a member of an Institute of Medicine Committee on ICTs in global health/violence prevention. In 2007 he co-chaired a Salzburg Global Seminar on Animal-Public Health that focused on strategies for pandemic preparedness. He has been a keynote speaker at health IT conferences and chaired the Healthcare Blockchain Summit (2017-18). In the 1990s he was a Fellow at the Human Rights Center at the University of California, Berkeley where he focused on health and human rights and taught in the anthropology department.
Jody has written and worked extensively on a range of technologies in healthcare including AI, mobiles, cloud, smart cities and the ethics of these technologies. His education includes a Doctorate in Public Health (University of California, Berkeley), an MA in International Relations and Economics (Johns Hopkins University, SAIS), and a BA in Biology (Ithaca College). He served as a Fulbright Scholar at Grameen Bank in Bangladesh (1991-2) and a Rotary Scholar in Tunisia and Spain (1990-91).
