Mickie de Wet is an ethicist with a background in both academia and applied research. With an MA in Philosophy and Ethics from Stellenbosch University in South Africa, and a Ph.D. from Universidade da Beira Interior in Portugal, she has developed a deep understanding of the ethical challenges and opportunities presented by technology.

During her Ph.D. research, she focused on AI ethics and data ethics, examining the far-reaching impact of AI on humanity. As an active member of the RiseUp-PPD Cost Action’s ethics work group for several years, she has also made meaningful contributions to the study of ethics and data ethics within postpartum depression research.

Mickie is dedicated to fostering ethical awareness and promoting ethical decision-making in both academia and industry, and to helping shape conversations around AI and data ethics, to ensure that technological advancements are harnessed responsibly for the betterment of society.
