Prof. Neri is chairman of the 3rd academic unit of radiology at Pisa University hospital in Italy, faculty of radiology at the medical school of the University of Pisa, chair of the master in oncologic imaging and chair of the post-graduate school of Radiology.
Born in Pisa, 11th December 1966, graduated in medicine and surgery and board certified in radiology at the University of Pisa. Started the academic career as an assistant professor, and progressed as associate professor at the department of translational research of the University of Pisa developing research activities in the fields in imaging informatics, head and neck, GI tract and oncologic imaging; is involved in multiple EU funded research projects with special focus on image processing, development of imaging biomarkers, imaging biobanks and artificial intelligence.
Served the European Society of Radiology as Chair of the eHealth and Informatics subcommittee, and members of multiple committees, the Radiological Society of North America as member of the Radiology Informatics Committee, the Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology (SIRM) as chair of the radiology informatics committee, the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) as CT colonography workshops faculty and member of the education committee, the European Society of Oncologic Imaging (ESOI) as chair of the publication committee and the research committee and member of the board, the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII) as founder and president.
Is President-elect of ESOI.Author and co-authors of 155 papers (h-Index 27, Scopus) with special interests in gastrointestinal radiology, oncologic imaging, imaging biobanks, imaging biomarkers and artificial intelligence. Editor and co-editor of 6 books.
